 820-foot pedestrian bridge in Ontario earns Guinness World Record

An 820-foot bridge suspended over an Ontario highway was awarded a Guinness record because the world's longest enclosed footbridge .



The Pickering footbridge , which was built by Metrolinx over Highway 401, was verified by Guinness because the world's longest enclosed footbridge after it had been officially measured at 820 feet long.


Metrolinx spokeswoman Anne Marie Aikins said the bridge was completed in September 2018 and therefore the transit agency decided to use for the Guinness record in 2020.


"We knew we had something special which we couldn't find another one round the world that was an equivalent length and that made us think we should always see if it is the longest, and surely , it is," Aikins told CTV News.


Aikins said the method of applying for the record and getting approved by Guinness took over a year.


The bridge, which connects the Pickering Go railway station to the Pickering Town Center, stretches over 14 lanes of highway, six railway tracks and a city road.

A dog stole the show during the Women's All-Ireland T20 Cup cricket semi-final match when it ran out onto the pitch and stole the ball.

The cameras were rolling during Saturday's game between Bready and CSNI when the canine darted out onto the pitch and ran off with the ball.


"The dog has the ball," announcer Heatley Tector are often heard saying within the footage, before erupting into laughter.


The dog eventually gave up the ball and was led faraway from the play area by his owner.


"I think we've retrieved the ball. it's going to need a clean. i feel this has brought COVID regulations to an entire new standard," Tector says within the video.


The International Cricket Council celebrated the incident by dubbing the dog, named Dazzle, its honorary player of the month.

a corporation is seeking a horror fan to urge paid $1,300 to observe 13 creepy classics and monitor their pulse to match the fear factors of high- and low-budget films.

FinanceBuzz, a financial advice website, announced it's seeking a "Horror Movie pulse Analyst" to observe 13 horror films with varying budgets and compare the scares from big-budget movies to their low-budget counterparts.


The chosen candidate will use a FitBit device to trace heart rates while watching the films .


The films selected by the web site are Amityville Horror, A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place Part 2, Candyman, Insidious, The Blair Witch Project, Sinister, Get Out, The Purge, Paranormal Activity and therefore the 2018 remake of Halloween.


"The lucky candidate hired for this ghostly gig are going to be paid $1,300 for his or her efforts. We'll also provide a FitBit to wear during their movie marathon and a $50 gift card to hide the value of movie rentals," the web site said.


Applications are being accepted through Sept. 26. The winning candidate are going to be announced Oct. 1.

Wildlife trappers were summoned to an airport in India when workers found themselves in a situation of life imitating art: a snake on a plane.



Kolkata Airport officials confirmed a baggage handler for airline IndiGo was preparing the plane for a flight to Mumbai when he spotted the snake in the cargo hold before passengers began boarding.

A Kolkata Forest Department officer was summoned to the scene and a video recorded at the airport shows the trapper struggling to contain the large reptile on the tarmac. The scene evoked comparisons to the 2006 action/comedy film Snakes on a Plane.


The snake was later identified as a non-venomous rat snake. Officials said they believe the snake slithered aboard the plane while it was being unloaded from an earlier flight.

A California sheriff's office shared security camera footage of the moment a black bear opened the door of an employee's vehicle while it was parked in a courthouse parking lot.

The Sierra County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that an office communications-correction officer found a back door of her car was not fully latched when she was preparing to go home from the Sierra County Courthouse in Downville in the early morning.

"Knowing the door had not been ajar when she went to work the previous evening, she took a look through the security footage and discovered the culprit," the post said.


The video shows a bear opening the door and peering inside the car in an apparent search for food.


"Thankfully, this bear found nothing of interest," the sheriff's office said.


The sheriff's office said the video should serve as a reminder to keep car doors locked and vehicles cleared of anything that might prove tempting to bears or other wildlife.
